Alice Canup

Alice Canup, of Sapphire, passed away after a short battle with cancer on Feb. 8, 2024. She was born in Indianapolis is on Nov. 8, 1947 to the late William J. and Mary Lou Alsop.

She was preceded by the death of her brother John Alsop. Alice is survived by her husband Stephen to whom she was married to for 56 years next month. She is also survived by her brother W. Thomas Alsop, his wife Lisa and their daughter Karli. Alice loved reading, gardening, traveling and antiques. She had various shops in Indiana, Ohio, South Carolina, and North Carolina as well as an online business. She was active in PEO and Cashiers United Methodist Church. She attended Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.

A service will be held at Cashiers United Methodist Church Feb. 17 at 2 p.m. A reception will be held afterwards. Donations can be made to: CUMC, American Cancer Society, Four Season Hospice and Tunnels to Towers.

The care of Mrs. Canup has been entrusted in A Simple Cremation.
