Obituary

Barry Dean Hagood passed away surrounded by the love of his family and friends. He will be remembered for his unwavering faith, generous spirit, and the genuine love he showed to everyone he met.

Barry was born in Decatur, Alabama, to Billy and Peggy Hagood. He was raised in LaFayette, Georgia, where he graduated from LaFayette High School with the Class of 1980. He went on to build a career as an electrician with MB Haynes, where his strong work ethic and leadership were evident to all who worked alongside him.

A devoted Christian, Barry faithfully served at Pinnacle Church in Canton, North Carolina, participating in a variety of ministries throughout the years. His favorite ministry was the church's Motorcycle Ministry, where he welcomed anyone who wanted to ride, build friendships, and enjoy fellowship together. Barry's faith was not simply something he talked about—it was reflected in the way he lived every day. He had a remarkable ability to love and accept everyone, striving to show others the love of Christ through both his words and his actions. His generosity, servant's heart, and leadership were evident in his church, his workplace, and his community.

Barry found great joy in riding the Harley-Davidson motorcycle that had been given to him by his late brother, Don. He also loved camping, cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide during football season, watching Atlanta Braves baseball, playing his guitar, and keeping his vehicles spotless. Above all, he treasured spending time with his five grandsons, who brought him immense happiness.

Perhaps one of Barry's greatest blessings was finding his beloved wife, Angela. The two were introduced through Angela's boss and her daughter, and from that first meeting they quickly became not only husband and wife, but the very best of friends. Together they shared a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Barry is survived by his loving wife, Angela Hagood; his daughter, Gabrielle Penland; his stepchildren, Jennifer McCall and Anthony McCall; his mother, Peggy Hagood; his sisters, Teresa Smith, Melinda O'Neill, and Beth Burnette; his five beloved grandsons; and countless extended family members and dear friends whose lives were touched by his kindness.

He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Hagood, and his brother, Don Hagood.

A celebration of Barry's life will be held at 4:00 p.m. July 18th, 2026, at Pinnacle Church in Canton, North Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pinnacle Church.

Barry's family finds comfort in knowing that the love he shared so freely, the faith he lived so faithfully, and the friendships he built so effortlessly will continue to inspire all who knew him. His legacy of service, compassion, and steadfast faith will be treasured forever.
