Obituary

Christopher Larue Justus, 54, of Hendersonville, NC, passed away on August 7, 2026. Born on August 9, 1971, Christopher was a man of many talents and passions who left an indelible mark on those who knew him.

Christopher was born in Bat Cave, NC and attended school in Edneyville. He built a diverse career, excelling in the hospitality industry through engineering and maintenance at the Biltmore Estate and also working with troubled youth. However, his happiest days were spent as the owner of Lakeside Pizza in Lake Lure, where he delighted in cooking for others. Known for his legendary garlic knots, Christopher’s culinary creations became a hallmark of his warm and generous spirit.

A lover of nature, Christopher found solace on hiking trails. His relentless pace earned him a reputation among friends and family as a formidable hiking companion. He also cherished road trips, embracing the thrill of exploration by simply picking a direction and seeing where the road would lead. Whether traveling by car or motorcycle, he sought out new adventures and unique destinations with friends and family alike.

Christopher is survived by his devoted wife, Suzanne Palmer Justus; his mother, Carla Sue Justus; brothers Travis and Thomas Justus; nieces Destiny and Penny Justus; four beloved stepchildren—Madison, Alexus, Luke, and Laurel—and three adored grandchildren: Emberly, Maverick, and Lila. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, and chosen family members who held a special place in his heart. He was predeceased by his father, Gary Larue Justus.

A celebration of Christopher’s life will be held on October 3, 2026, at Fruit of the Spirit Orchards at 5:30 pm. Guests are invited to bring a covered dish for fellowship as they honor his memory. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Four Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care.

Christopher will be remembered for his kindness, intelligence, mischievous humor, and love of nature. May his adventurous spirit continue to inspire all who knew him.
