Connie Nora Gosnell Watts, LPN, 70
Hendersonville - Connie Nora Gosnell Watts, 70, of Hendersonville, NC, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2019 in the Elizabeth House in Hendersonville, NC after an extended illness surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Henderson County, NC in 1949, Connie was the daughter of the late Albert and Lillie Jones Gosnell. During her working life, she was an LPN at Pardee Hospital along with being a factory worker at JP Stevens as a cotton winder and General Electric (GE) as an assembly line operator most of her life. Mrs. Watts was also an avid volunteer with the East Henderson High School band program for 13 years, becoming known as "the uniform lady" or "Mama Watts".
She was the wife of 25 years to the late Earl Watts of Etowah, who passed away on December 2, 1998. She is survived by two daughters, Amy Watts Coleman and husband Preston of Hendersonville and Monica Diane Watts of Hendersonville. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Rhonda Diane Sullins and husband Cody of Etowah, Mark Paul Moore and wife Lucero of Mills River, and Joel Dean Moore, Jr. and wife Charity of Morganton; two great-grandchildren, Isabelle Marie Sullins of Etowah and Linda Marie Moore of Morganton; one sister, Earline Gosnell Denton and her late husband Walter Denton of Hendersonville; two brothers, Charles Edward Gosnell "Bird" and wife Pat of Hendersonville and Albert Govan Gosnell "Ducky" and the late Betty Hipp Gosnell of Saluda; three sisters-in-law, Pauline Watts Warren and husband Donald of Edneyville, Jane Watts of Etowah, and Dorthy Watts of Hendersonville; and one brother-in-law, Keith Watts of Etowah. She is preceded in death by two brothers, John David Gosnell and Calvin Ernest Gosnell, both of Hendersonville and one sister, Clora Edna Gosnell, also of Hendersonville. Connie had several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Connie was a lifelong native of Henderson County and a 1969 graduate of East Henderson High School. She loved her family and all of the cats for which she was blessed with having in both her early life and later on in her life. Her most cherished cat was her 11 year old baby, Bouncy, as they were inseparable. During the last part of her life during her extended illness, Connie was given exceptional care by all of the caring and loving staff at Blue Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Nursing Facility and during the final state of her extended illness, all of the caring and loving staff of the Elizabeth House Hospice Care Center, both of Hendersonville.
Connie is being cremated by A Simple Cremation, a lovely and peaceful crematorium in Candler, NC. The family will receive friends at the home of her daughters Amy and Monica at anytime. Connie's remains will be interred beside her dear late husband Earl at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A Graveside Service will be held at 3:00pm this Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hendersonville with Pastor Rick Phillips officiating. Some of Connie's remains will, with her loving family gathered together, be spread in the place she held near and closest to her heart and loved, Myrtle Beach, SC at a later date.
