Douglas Ray Brown, 81, from Candler, NC passed away June 30, 2023.

He was the son of the late James Brown and Ollie Wells Brown, both from Candler.  He was preceded in death by his brother James Lewis Brown (Louie) and his sister Mary Ann Holder.  He is survived by his son Keith Brown, two daughters, Karen Brown and Deirdre (DeeDee) Bradley, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Doug lived his life in Candler working as a self-employed plumber.  Through his profession, he made many, many friends and also because of his fun-loving, humorous personality.  He loved drinking beer and shooting pool at the old Mtn. View drive-in back in the day and loved going to the ballgames at Enka.  He helped coach his daughter’s teams at Hominy Valley when she was growing up and continued to never miss a ballgame throughout her school career.  He loved hunting and fishing with his best friends.  In his later years, he got the opportunity to travel the US selling copper garden art at craft shows for Haw Creek Forge, which he absolutely loved doing and seeing the country.

Friends and family are welcome to a toast for Doug at Wild Wings Café on Long Shoals Rd., July 12 at 6pm under the outside pavilion where we will share good times, memories and stories.
