Gary Robinson, age 70, of Candler, North Carolina, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. Born on October 3, 1955, Gary was a proud graduate of Easley High School and Clemson University, where he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering.

Gary’s lifelong passion for communication and technology led him to a remarkable 45-year career in radio broadcasting. He began working at a radio station while attending college and went on to serve as an engineer with Saga Communications from 2007 until his retirement in 2022. His dedication, expertise, and steady presence made him a respected figure in the broadcast community.

Beyond his professional life, Gary had a deep love for adventure and community. He was a co-founder of the Upstate Legends Jeep Club, created to celebrate his enthusiasm for jeeping and car collecting while giving back to the community in meaningful ways. He also played an instrumental role in organizing the transportation of military service personnel through Honoring Their Service and Wounded Warriors who have served our country.

Gary is survived by his partner of 45 years, Robert Taylor; sisters Pam Durham (Mike) and Brenda Godfrey (Monie); brother Sam Robinson (Joyce); sister-in-law Gwen Kutch (Robert), brother s-in-law Gene Taylor (Barbara), Gary (June) and multiple nieces and nephews. He was deeply loved and will be remembered for his kindness, loyalty, and generous spirit.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Gary’s memory to Brother Wolf Animal Rescue in Asheville, NC, reflecting his lifelong compassion for animals.

Gary’s legacy lives on in the laughter of friends, the hum of an engine, and the signal of every broadcast he helped bring to life.
