James “Russ” Russell Jones, 70, of Morganton passed away on April 16, 2024, at his residence. A native of Jacksonville, FL, he was the son of the late Charles Gordon Jones and Josephine Moody Jones.
Russ proudly served in the US Marine Corps and remained passionate about the military. For many years, Russ worked as a trim specialist in the construction field. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish and camp along with cooking and Harley Davidson motorcycles.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Vicki Hoglen Jones; four sons, Adam McDaris and his wife, Samantha, Joseph Shipman and his wife, Ashleigh, Charles “CJ” Jones and his wife, Joanie and Donald “DJ” Jones and ten grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Nebo Crossing Church, 263 Barnes Road, Marion, NC. The family will receive family and friends during that time.The care of Mr. Jones has been entrusted to A Simple Cremation.
