It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jann Jeanette Steelhammer, a beloved sister, friend, and guiding light to all who knew her. Born on July 23, 1947, Jann's journey through life was marked by her infectious free spirit, boundless love for life, and an unparalleled ability to make everything around her bloom.
Jann's green thumb was legendary, transforming even the simplest of gardens into magnificent displays of nature's beauty. Her home was a sanctuary, always open to those in need of a warm hug, a hearty meal, or a listening ear. Her kindness knew no bounds, and her animals, especially her cherished dog Harley, were among the luckiest to experience her love.
Her passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but we find solace in knowing she is free from pain and suffering. Jann was a beautiful soul, a shining example of love and compassion, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
Jann attended the University of Oregon, and for the years to follow, she remained an avid Duck football fan. For decades, she worked as a flight attendant for United, where she shared beautiful smiles and kindness with all who had the opportunity to meet her.
Jann was preceded in death by her father, John Steelhammer, and her mother, Dorothy Steelhammer. Jann is survived by her loving partner Mick Blackmore (his son, Justin Blackmore), her brother John Steelhammer III, her niece Gracie Steelhammer, her sister Joan Steelhammer (her husband, Gary Everett), her cousin Pete Vandeneynde, and her best friends Kacey Joyce and Billy Bop Bowman. She also leaves behind countless others whose lives she enriched in Asheville, Mill Valley, and especially Neskowin, her true home.
We will forever miss her laughter, her incredible present-wrapping skills, her thoughtful cards, her wisdom, and her unwavering support. Jann's spirit will continue to guide us, and her memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Rest in peace, dear Jann. May your soul find eternal peace among the cosmos, surrounded by the beautiful gardens you so lovingly tended in this life. Until we meet again, you will remain in our hearts forever.
*A Celebration of Life will be held in Neskowin, Oregon, at a date yet to be determined.
