John Timothy “Tim” Kast went to be with the Lord Jesus on July 13, 2023, after a two-year battle with cancer. He died peacefully at his home with his wife, Rose, by his side.
Tim was a life member of the Navy SEAL Museum. One of his proudest achievements was assisting Chief James D. “Patches” Watson III in hosting the Chief’s Beer Bash and Auction at Little Jim Bridge during Muster in Fort Pierce, Florida. In the late 1990s Chief Watson and Tim started SEAL Team Zero to add to the fun and camaraderie of the Beer Bash. He looked forward to spending time with his many friends in Naval Special Warfare and he missed being able to attend due to health problems in later years. He loved and supported our military, but especially Naval Special Warfare. Tim was also a long-time associate member of the Seawolves.
In 1996, he went with Dick Marcinko and Chief Watson on a tour to Vietnam which began a life-long friendship with the Skipper and Chief.
Tim enjoyed working with his hands, on cars and motorcycles, writing, and reading military history.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary, brothers, Eric (Jacklyn) of New Bern, North Carolina, Thomas (Sharon) of Asheville, North Carolina, nieces and nephews, and many dear and close friends.
No visitation or funeral services are planned. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Tim wished that any memorials be made to the Navy SEAL Foundation or the National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum. Condolences may be sent to Rosemary Kast, 342 Brevard Road, Asheville, NC 28806
God Speed, Tim
