Julian Palmer Kirkpatrick, age 80, died Aug 19th, 2023 in Asheville, NC
near. He was born Nov 29, 1942 in Laurinburg, NC to Palmer M
Kirkpatrick, Sr and Edna Fishburne Kirkpatrick. He is survived by two sons,
Andrew Scott Kirkpatrick (Noelle) of Chicago, and Brian Stewart
Kirkpatrick of Manassas, Va, a granddaughter, Ursula Willow Kirkpatrick
(and former wife, Sharon Clark of Whidbey Island, Washington State), Also
survived by brothers Palmer Morgan Kirkpatrick, Jr (Mary), Hugh Gurdon
Kirkpatrick (Terrie), Alan Fishburne Kirkpatrick (Fran), and sister Jill
Kirkpatrick Bailey(Bob).
Julian grew up in South Carolina, finishing high school in Belton, where he
played trumpet in the band, making the prestigious All-State Band, and
played on the Belton High School tennis team. After graduating from
University of SC, he worked most of his life at Naval Air Systems Command
as a physicist in Washington, DC. He lived in Manassas, Va. until around
2017, when he moved to Harmony at Reynolds Mountain retirement village
near Asheville, NC . Julian loved eating Bar-B-Q and butter pecan ice
cream. The family wishes to thank his assistant, Mary Carney, who was of
immense help to him during his illness. Service will be held Thursday, Aug
31st, at 1 PM at Harmony at Reynolds Mountain , 41 Cobblers Way,
Asheville, NC”
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made at charity of choice, or to the
American Kidney Foundation.
