Lorena Clouse Boone, 78, of Shelby, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones.
Lorena was born on November 4, 1947, in Mars Hill, North Carolina, to Willie “Bill” Clouse and Ruby Higgins Clouse. From an early age, Lorena showed love, kindness, and unwavering support to her family and friends—qualities that shaped a life devoted to those she cherished most.
She graduated from Mars Hill High School and went on to build a diverse and dedicated career in management, working in furniture stores, jewelry stores, veterinary clinics, and later in a dermatology office. No matter where she was, Lorena brought warmth, dedication, and a genuine care for others that left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Throughout her life, Lorena was known for her generosity, humor, and compassion. She had a special gift when it came to caring for the elderly and those in need, always knowing how to bring comfort, laughter, and light through her gentle conversations and quick wit. Her ability to make others smile, even in difficult moments, was truly a blessing and will be remembered by many.
More than any accomplishment, Lorena cherished her family and was a devoted and loving wife for 61 years. She found joy in an abundance of hobbies and interests, including her love of flower gardening. She was especially honored to have a daylily hybridized and named in her honor—a lasting tribute to her beauty and spirit.
Lorena is survived by her beloved spouse, David F. Boone; her son, William “Bill” D. Boone (Pam); her grandchildren, Lorena Claire Boone, Emmie Fore, and Sydney Wilson; her sister, Donna Garrison-Connelly (Edward); her sister-in-law, Mary Clouse; and her nieces and nephews, Aleesa Williams, Jamie Barnard (Fred), Katlyn Fox (Garrett), Nathan Garrison, and great-nephew Henry Fox.
