Mary Ann Becker, of Candler, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her residence on Monday, May 25, 2026.

Born on August 27, 1951, in Summit County, Ohio, Mary was an intelligent, independent, and accomplished attorney who valued education and lifelong learning.

Mary was also a cherished friend and neighbor whose kindness extended to both people and animals. She lovingly cared for many neighborhood cats, in addition to her own beloved feline companions. Horses held a special place in her heart, and she found great joy in tending plants, collecting treasures, and nurturing the living things around her.

Mary is survived by her devoted friends and neighbors, whose lives were enriched by her friendship, generosity, and steadfast presence. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of sharing in her life during her final years.

A private gathering of family and friends will be held on June 20, 2026, to celebrate Mary's life and honor her memory.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to an animal welfare organization of your choice, including Brother Wolf Animal Rescue, Asheville Humane Society, Friends2Ferals, or another local organization dedicated to the care and protection of animals.
