Obituary

Mary Jayne Shook was born on Friday, July 6th, 1945 in Haywood County, North Carolina. Raised there by her parents, William Joseph Ford and Edna Ruth Rice Mary Jayne grew up in Haywood County alongside her siblings Elizabeth Ann Turpin, Linda Gail Inman, and William Cecil Ford. Mary was a proud graduate of Canton High School, Class of 1964.

Mary devoted more than 20 years of her professional life to working in Medical Records at Mission Hospital, where she was known for her dedication and reliability. She was a faithful member of Davis Chapel United Methodist Church and lived her life grounded in her Christian faith. She was a woman of Christ who read and preached the Bible daily and carried her faith into every aspect of her life.

Family was at the center of Mary’s heart. She dearly loved caring for her great-grandsons and found great joy in spending time with them. She also shared a special bond with her son’s dog, Annie, who stayed with her often and brought her much comfort and companionship.

Mary had a love for gospel music, especially the music of George Strait. She embraced life fully and loved everyone who was part of it. She would do anything for anyone and was known for her generous spirit and unwavering love.

She was married to her beloved husband, Carl William Shook, Jr., who preceded her in death.

Mary is survived by her son, William Michael Shook; her granddaughter, Brandy Rachell Wilson and her husband, Brandon Wilson; her sister, Linda Gail Inman and her husband, Vick Inman; and her great-grandsons, Weston James Wilson and Wyatt Lane Wilson.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, William Joseph Ford and Edna Ruth Rice; her sister, Elizabeth Ann Turpin; and her brother, William Cecil Ford.

Mary Jayne Shook will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose faith, kindness, and love for others touched all who knew her.

Mary Jayne Shook was entrusted to the care of A Simple Cremation, in Candler, NC.
