Michael Walker Arthur, 71, passed on Friday, July 24, 2026, at a health care facility in Asheville, NC.

He was the son of the late William Hayne and Margaret White Arthur. Mike is survived by his wife, Rayanna; daughters, Tara Lingerfeldt (Matt), Sarah Honeycutt (Justin), and Audrey Arthur; brothers, Pete and Alec (Elaine); sisters, Alison Woodard, Nancy Manning (Ricky), and Clare Bass; grandchildren, Xander and Addilyn Honnecutt; nephews, Jonathan Woodard (Karen), Matthew Arthur, and Andrew Arthur (Jerry McFarland); and niece, Elizabeth Woodard.

Mike spent his life helping others. He was a longtime volunteer with the Beaverdam Volunteer Fire Department and the Buncombe County Rescue Squad. Mike worked as a Buncombe County 911 dispatcher for many years. His kindness and sense of humor will be long remembered.

Services will be held Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Light of Life Baptist Church, 2985 Riverside Drive, Asheville, NC. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m., with the service to follow at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to local fire departments or rescue services.
