Nellie Sue Trimnal

Nellie Sue Trimnal, 68, of Canton, North Carolina, passed away on September 14, 2023, with her two children by her side.

Born in Pickens, South Carolina to parents Louie and Louise Parsons Nix, she was the youngest of seven siblings. Nellie cherished her childhood days spent playing in the creek and enjoying trips to the lake with family. Her upbringing instilled in her a deep sense of humility, which remained a defining quality throughout her life. Above all, Nellie was an incredible mother, providing immeasurable love and care to her two children, Jeremy and Jessi. She most enjoyed spending her time at flea markets and yard sales and took great joy in finding that one special treasure.

Nellie’s remarkable strength was evident in her 14-year battle against cancer, which she faced with unwavering determination and faith. Nellie’s legacy of generosity and her indomitable spirit will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Her strength and resilience inspired all who knew her.

Nellie is survived by her son, Jeremy Trimnal, and his wife, Emily, of Candler, NC; her daughter, Jessi Surrett, and her husband, Jason, of Waynesville, NC; her brothers Roy Nix, and his wife, Tracy, of Pickens, SC; and Charles Nix of Pickens, SC; sisters Ruby Crowe of Pickens, SC; and Ruth Evans of Travelers Rest, SC. Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, Louie and Louise Nix, and her brothers, Jimmy Doc “J.D.” Nix and James Edward “Ed” Nix.

Nellie’s Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 4pm at Keowee Baptist Church’s Fellowship Hall in Six Mile, SC. The family would like for all guests to dress comfortably, as Nellie never cared for getting dressed up for these types of things.

In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask that you honor Nellie’s memory by visiting a flea market, as it was her favorite place to be. Wander the booths, discover treasures, and cherish the simple joys in life, just as she did.
