Patsy Jean Burnette Stoss (74) of Morganton, NC passed away on March 14, 2023, at Stone Creek Health & Rehabilitation after several prolonged illnesses.
She is survived by her children: Lee Stoss (Cynthia) of Candler, NC and Mel Stoss Stanberry (Terry) of Clayton, NC; her grandchildren: Marilyn Stoss Coleman (Kelyn II) of Leicester, NC; Anthony Gosnell (Tiffanie), Cody Stoss, and Zaylee Stoss of Candler; and great-grandchildren: Gavin Stoss and Kelyn “Bean” Coleman III of Leicester and Neveah Gosnell and Presley Emory of Candler; her sister Diana Almon of Ocala, FL; her brother-in-law Marshall DuBois of Sarasota FL; cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Patsy was preceded in death by her parents Leroy “Buss” and Sue Whisnant Burnette of Morganton; her sisters: Iris DuBois of Sarasota and Eva Lowdermilk of Morganton; her nieces: Sherrie Stafford and Marina Powell of Sarasota; and her nephew: William B. “Boo” Lowdermilk III of Morganton.
She was a graduate of Oak Hill High School and CVCC and a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. She loved her family, her fur babies, reading romance novels, and spending time at the beach. She was a great southern cook and a master of homemade biscuits n gravy. She was the kind of friend that everyone wanted to have and very few were lucky enough to know and love. She will be greatly missed.
A graveside service will be held at St. Mary's - St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 140 St Marys Church Road, Morganton on Sunday, April 16th at 2:00pm. A Celebration of Life will be held immediately follow the service in Harrison Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations (time, monetary, blood) to the American Red Cross www.redcross.org or to St. Mary's - St. Stephen's Episcopal Church www.stmarysandststephens.org.
