Sara Rickenbaker

Sara Pauline Rickenbaker, 82, of The Great Laurels of Waynesville, passed away on Thursday, August 6th. A native of Charleston, SC, and a resident of both Jackson and Haywood Counties, she was the daughter of Gleaton and Pauline Rickenbaker. She held a Master's degree in Education. She was a teacher for special needs children, and directed church choirs in both Raleigh and Cullowhee, NC. She loved trinkets, technology and okra, as well as convertible car rides on the parkway.

She is survived by a brother, Gleaton Rickenbaker, Jr., of Columbia, SC, and also by three children, Sarajane Melton, of Sylva, NC, Cydney Pitts, of Asheville, NC, and Eric Hinson, of Lawrenceville, GA.

6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several step grandchildren survive.

She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A special thanks goes to Annette, her caregiver.

A celebration of life service will be held at The Summit Church Dills Cove property on August 23rd.
