Scott Alan Mitchell, of Sylva, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.

Scott was born on Wednesday, August 22, 1979, in Plantation, Florida, to Timothy and Lynda Mitchell. He grew up alongside his brother, Mark, in Loxahatchee Groves, Florida, and also spent part of his childhood in Margate, Florida, before making North Carolina his home ten years ago.

A gifted craftsman with a creative spirit, Scott spent much of his life caring for homes through his skilled work in the construction trades. He was an accomplished house painter, regularly installed drywall, completed interior finishes, and specialized in restoration projects. He took great pride in transforming spaces with his hands and eye for detail.

Above all else, Scott was a devoted father to his beloved sons, Ryder (15) and River (11). They were the greatest joy of his life, and his love, guidance, and adventurous spirit will continue to live on through them.

Music was a constant source of happiness throughout Scott's life. He played both the guitar and drums and loved attending concerts and music festivals with family and friends. Whether creating music, sharing it with others, or finding peace in the outdoors, Scott embraced life with creativity and curiosity. He especially enjoyed hiking and camping, and his appreciation for nature was reflected in the way he lived and the memories he created with those he loved.

Scott is survived by his sons, Ryder and River; his parents, Timothy and Lynda Mitchell; his brother, Mark; and the many dear friends whose lives were enriched by his kindness, his love of music, and his adventurous spirit.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who reached out to Scott during his final days. Your visits, phone calls, and expressions of love brought him great comfort and meant more than words can express.
