Sharon “Nana Sherry” Hoyle

Sharon Hoyle, lovingly known as “Nana Sherry,” passed away surrounded by the love of those who meant the most to her. She will be remembered especially for the love and devotion she gave to her family, and for the special place she held in the hearts of her grandchildren.

Sharon was born in Haywood County, North Carolina, to Velma Hoyle and was raised with her brother, Brian Brooks. She grew up in Jackson County and Sylva and attended Sylva-Webster High School.

Sharon devoted her life to her family. She never considered herself a career woman, choosing instead the deeply important work of being a mother and grandmother. Her family was her greatest accomplishment and the source of her greatest joy. Her granddaughter loved her dearly, and the bond they shared was a beautiful reflection of the love Sharon gave so freely to those around her.

In her free time, Sharon enjoyed sewing, keeping a clean and welcoming home, and playing Candy Crush. She loved settling in to watch Little House on the Prairie and listening to music from the 1960s and 1970s, especially the music of Bob Seger. She also had a beloved pit bull named Pricilla, who was a cherished companion.

Sharon shared the last 14 years of her life with her beloved life partner, Donald Lane. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, and companionship.

Sharon is survived by her partner, Donald Lane; her son, Logan Hoyle, and his fiancée, Haley Foxx; and their five children, Haden Hoyle, Kaleb Hoyle, Ollie Hoyle, Dolly Hoyle, and Zabel Foxx. She is also survived by her daughter, Telisha Hoyle, and her husband, Walter Haynes, and their daughter, Maylee Messer. Sharon leaves behind her brother, Brian Brooks, as well as 13 cousins and many other extended family members and loved ones who will cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Velma Sherrill; her stepfather, Wayne Sherrill; her father, Bud Brooks; and her uncle, Leonard Hoyle.

Sharon will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her. Her greatest legacy will be the family she devoted her life to and the memories she created through the simple, everyday moments that made life special. Though she is no longer with them, Nana Sherry’s love will continue to live on in her children, grandchildren, family, and all those fortunate enough to have known her.
