Suzanne Jean
Dudley
Dec 1, 1957 — Oct 25, 2026
Asheville, NC
Suzanne Jean Dudley passed away on October 25, 2026, in Asheville, North Carolina.
Suzanne, or Suzy as she was affectionately known, was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and grew up in South Euclid. She attended Christ the King for grade school, St. Margaret Mary's for 7th and 8th, and graduated from Beaumont School.
Throughout her life, she created homes filled with laughter, good food, and fun in Rhode Island, Florida, and finally, Asheville, North Carolina. Suzy brought her boundless energy to everything she did, from teaching exercise classes at Women’s World to advocating for others through the insurance claims process. Above all, she poured that energy into raising her children, along with half the neighborhood. Her home was always open and warm, welcoming anyone who wanted to swim in the pool, play games, or simply spend time together. She found joy in helping others and showed generosity and kindness to anyone going through a difficult time.
Suzy loved an adventure, whether it meant driving her CJ7 Jeep or packing up for a weekend of camping. She hosted incredible parties and was known for her chicken pot pie. Ever the card shark, she’d happily teach you a game but never just let you win, whether it was poker, spoons, cribbage, Monopoly Deal, or Skip-Bo. She loved a fun hat, glamorous sunglasses, and perfectly applied lipstick. She had an incredible green thumb, transforming dreary spaces into thriving havens. You could often find her sitting outside, a dog lounging nearby in the sun, reading a book, watching the birds, and always, always smoking a cig.
Suzy was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Fred and Dorothy; her fabulous great-aunts, Therese and Jean; and her sweet pet companions, Joe, Jake, and George. Her memory lives on through her children, Kelly and Kyle; her sisters, DeeDee and Katherine; her granddaughter, Ava; and the many families whose lives she filled with joy: Michaud, Myers (from both branches!), Silver, Westropp, and Dudley. She will also be deeply missed by friends both new and old.
Whether you knew Suzy for a few short months or an entire lifetime, she made you feel welcome, cared for, and loved. As her sister said this week, “She was easy to love.”
