Candler

Loyd Everett Gunter Jr, 56, of Candler passed away on July 13, 2019.  Born May 9, 1963 in Waynesville.

Loyd grew up in Candler until the family moved to Oregon in 1971.  Upon graduating high school, he joined the Army National Guard until he was Honorably discharged in 1992.  While in the Guard, he spent time in Korea.  He returned to the states and back to Candler where he operated his own lawn care business.

Loyd was preceded in death by his father Loyd E. Gunter Sr and his mother-in-law Carolyn Monteith.

Loyd was survived by his wife Sabrina Gunter, son Zeb Gunter, daughter Regina Burt (Ryan), grandsons Bryce and Teagun, mother Phyllis Allison (Joe), father-in-law Johnny Monteith, sisters Brenda Bjorge (Greg), Lucinda Dinkle (Shane), brothers Raye Gunter, Jeremy Gunter, Jacob Gunter (Heather), sister-in-law Teresa Nicholson (Tammy), Cynthia Lineberry (Douglas), brother-in-law Jonathan Nicholson (sherry), nephews Garek Bjorge, Nathan Gunter, Cameron Nicholson, nieces Kandace Getchell (Richard), Kelsey Gunter, Carlie Gunter, Catherine Noel and numerous great nephews and nieces.

Loyd loved fishing, hunting, gardening, playing cards and his 2 dogs:  Sandy and “Old Girl” (Eve).  He had a green thumb and could make anything grow, especially his roses.  If he ever told you “he had your six”, you better believe he had your back.

Loyd will be greatly missed.  Inside he was a big softy. He was a great husband, father, son, brother and friend to everyone who knew him.

His service will be held at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church 754 Aiken Road Asheville, NC 28804 on Thursday July 25 at 4 PM.
