Candler

Mary Evans Robinson, 59, of Candler, NC died Thursday morning, January 31, 2019 after an extended battle with ovarian cancer.

Mary was born in Asheville on March 29, 1959, the youngest daughter of the late Neal and Jean Evans.  A graduate of Montreat College, Mary was employed by GE Lighting in Flat Rock, and previously employed by Volvo in Asheville.

She is survived by her husband Larry, daughter Mandy Smith and her husband Jayson of Candler, her daughter Caitlyn Ross (Haven Maltry) of the home, and one granddaughter Carter Smith.

Also surviving are seven siblings; Wiley Neal Evans III of Arden (Susan), Michele Burnette of Bent Creek, Jim Evans of Bradenton, FL (Judy), Bob Evans of Mills River (Suzy), Patrick Evans of Brevard, Peggy Smith of Summerville, SC (Mike), Mark Evans of Antelope, CA (Renee) and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews who adored her.

The family will host a celebration of Mary’s life on Saturday, February 9, 2019, 4 PM to 7 PM at the community clubhouse at 262  Hollabrook Parkway, Mills River, NC.

Mary loved life and lived it to the fullest. She enjoyed spending time with her girls and traveling with her husband. She most recently enjoyed quilting and sewing. Mary’s smile could light up a room, she didn’t have to say a word, her presence alone was enough to make you feel good. She had a special connection with her daughters, each of her siblings, and nieces and nephews. Mary will be greatly missed but her life will continue to be celebrated for years to come.
