Roselin Williamson

April 7, 1939 — November 27, 2018

Shelby, NC

Roselin Cornwell Williamson died on November 27, 2018, at the age of 79.

Roselin was a loving mother to Debra Williamson of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Lea Williamson of Bryan, Texas, and husband Yuri Horner; and Christine Trulby of Franklin, Massachusetts, and husband Jim Trulby. She was a loving grandmother to Morgan Trulby, daughter of Christine and Jim.

Roselin was born on April 7, 1939, in Shelby, NC, to Eleanor and John Cornwell. In 1959, she graduated from Gardner-Webb College with a bachelor’s degree in Education, and she obtained her master’s degree in Education from Appalachian State University.  She was married to John Williamson on June 8, 1963.

In addition to being an engaged, deeply supportive, and hard-working wife and mother, Roselin was a gifted and passionate teacher. For many years she worked as an elementary school teacher. After retiring, she continued to work as a private tutor, working individually with home-schooled students and teaching piano. She adored her students and would speak about them and their accomplishments with great fondness. She loved to read and instilled the importance of literacy and education in her daughters.

Roselin’s faith was central to her life, and she was a longtime, energetic, and active member of First Baptist Church in Shelby, NC.  She served as an accompanist for the children’s choir, taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School, volunteered in the nursery, and served on a number of committees. Later in life, she was deeply proud and happy to serve as a deacon.

Roselin was committed to serving her community in many ways; she devoted many hours to visiting residents of local nursing homes; she fostered stray animals. She loved listening to opera; she loved to knit, bake delicious cookies for family and friends, read the Bible, and spoil her cats.

Roselin Williamson was an extraordinary human being, and she will be deeply missed.

The memorial service will be  held on December 15, 2018, at 3 pm in the Webb Chapel at First Baptist Church, Shelby, NC.
